Programming Ideas

Activities and events that bring families together

The family zone is the foundation. Programming is what makes it come alive.

Daily: Open Play

The simplest and most effective "program" is no program at all. Kids zone is open whenever the gym is open. Kids play freely while parents train.

This should be the default and the foundation of everything else.

Weekly: Family WOD

When: Saturday or Sunday morning, 30-45 minutes Format: Scaled workout that parents and kids do together Example:

*"The Family Five"* 5 rounds for fun (not time): - 10 squats (kids: bodyweight; parents: weighted) - 10 push-ups (kids: from knees; parents: standard) - 200m run together (parents pace to kids) - 5 barbell deadlifts (kids: BabyGains barbell; parents: regular) - 30-second plank hold

Keys to success: - NO competitive element (this is about togetherness) - Scale everything — nobody should feel inadequate - Loud music, high fives, celebration - Take photos for social media (with permission) - End with a group stretch and water break

Monthly: Themed Events

"Mini Games" Competition - Kids-only "competition" with fun events - Events: longest plank hold, most box jumps in 1 minute, obstacle course - Everyone gets a medal or ribbon - Parents cheer from the sidelines

Family Movie Night - Project a movie on the gym wall - Bring blankets and snacks - Low-effort, high-community event - Great for winter months

Parents' Night Out - Staff supervise kids zone for 2 hours - Parents get an uninterrupted training session - Pizza for the kids - Charge $10-15 per child (or free for premium members)

Seasonal: Special Events

Summer Camp (1-2 weeks) - Daily 2-hour sessions for kids - Mix of fitness, games, and education - Age groups: 3-5 and 6-8 - Charge: $100-200/week

Holiday Family WODs - Thanksgiving "Turkey Burner" - Christmas "12 Days of Fitness" - Valentine's "Partner WOD" (parent + child) - Halloween "Monster Mash" (costumes encouraged)

The Golden Rule of Family Programming

Every event should pass the "would I bring MY family to this?" test. If the answer is no, redesign it.

Programming doesn't need to be complex. It needs to be consistent, welcoming, and fun. The BabyGains equipment handles the fitness part — your job is to create the atmosphere.
